How do you do this style of navigation?

Hi,

I'm currently working on a template and really like the style of navigation this site uses - http://blog.piotrgalas.com/photo/271...ast_too_crazy/ - where you hover over the left or right side of an image to make visible navigation indicators.

How is this done? Any help greatly appreciated.
