Skins, Themes, Templates?

What should one call it?
I call it templates, but I wonder if that's the wrong expression. Most software and sites are talking about skins and themes, which therefor are more commonly known. Templates doesn't sound as sexy

Perhaps people easier will recognize what it is if you choose to call it Skins or Themes instead?

What do you think?

ive always known it to be the skin, you skin a forum, you skin winamp, templates is more the coders view, while skin is more from the designers...but its 1/2 dozen the other...

Not a bad expression layout but not known at all to the general public and therefore makes no sense.

I want to use the term that is most commonly used and thereby create instant recognition for what it is. Templates don't sound that good, and I don't know why I went with that at first.

I think I want to change, the poll will decide if I get some votes.

So, vote for the best idea of the three turnover!
Don't introduce new expressions that will confuse me!

I think its a template because its made to be modified. a skin you leave be and you dont modify it. but a template you are supposed to modify. Theme might work tho....

I say template.

nicely said and i totally agree...template works best when you put it like that, but then you have to take into account how many people are going to mod out the template? its probably only a small handful of us who get a hold of some code and design and rip it apart for fun

difficult to decide...

as I am a nucleus-user http://stadtbild.zweiterblick.de, it is difficult for me to decide..

there, templates are the definitions for some elements and skins are the complete pages which include templates, so I tend to prefer skins
