display categories on mainpage

Hello,

I want to modify the script so that the cateogries are displayed on the front page also and not only when I click on 'Browse Archive'

well I got this to work but I also want the Script to show the thumbnails on the front page (where the big picture is shown) of the selected category only

So basically I want to implement the category feature of the archiv into the main site of the script

Is this possible with templates? Or do I have to modify the script itself??
Or may be it's also possible to create an addon for this??

This is something that will fundamentally alter the way stuff works, so it would require modification of the main script to implement a "filter" that only shows stuff (categories) that one has selected, not only thumbnails but main image as well.

I don't think it will be to heavy a modification. Still, will require some work.

I just made this as a add on an it's working the way I want to.
Let me know if you want to have the add on.
I think it might be interesting for other people also.

You managed to do it as an addon, or did you modify the script?
Anyway, feel free to post it up on the front page. If it requires modification of the main script (or a whole new main script) it defines as a mod.

nope it's just an add on

2 new template varables that's it
