Big mistake made - main image not visible anymore

Hi Folks,

I hate it. One wrong step and you can damage your photoblog.
What I've done:

I uploaded this http://www.websitebaker-cms.de/downl...lery_v0.9b.zip
files to my root folder via FTP and the FTP-Client overwrote some
files, but I don't know which.

And although I've reuploaded the Pixelpost 1.7.1 index.php my current
image is not visible anymore.

Any guess?

Manuel

If your photoblog was also in the root folder, then there is one folder that is named the same in both programs - admin. When you uploaded Website Baker, it overwrote the admin folder.

I've just checked your photoblog, and I can see your image, so I'm assuming that you've gotten this sorted out.

If you want to use WB in the root folder of your domain, then you need to first move your photoblog to a subdirectory called "photoblog" (or whatever you want to call it) so that WB won't overwrite any of those folders.

...hmm

My understanding is:

That if I upload a similar file to the same directory it will overwrite the existing one.
But the only file "WB" also has in it's directory is "index.php" so it only should have overwritten this file, no?

The image is visible for you? Hm, not on my PC :-(((

Yes, if you upload a file with the same name, it will overwrite the existing one.

If you upload a folder with the same name, it will also overwrite it. Both PP and WB have folders called admin - you've probably also overwritten your PP admin folder as well.

Have you tried logging in to your PP admin since you did this?

aaaaaah, now I understand. No, I first did it wrong. I did not install "WB" before only the "Smooth Gallery"-zip file. Nothing more nothing less. After the installation I realized that I also need to install WB first. So the only files I have uploaded were the "smooth gallery"-files. ADMIN login works!

What exactly is the end result you are looking for - are you only wanting to add a gallery to your website? If so, find a stand-alone gallery script and install that in a subfolder of your website, not in the root directory.

If you want the Smooth Gallery, you can find the script here.

You cannot have 2 programs that reside in your root folder, as there will be conflicts, as you've found out this morning.

Let me know if you need anymore help.

I can see your image in Firefox; however when I look at your photoblog in IE, I cannot see the image.

In looking at the source, both the width and height in the <img> tag are empty - that's why you cannot see it in IE.

There are a few threads in the forum that deal with this issue - read them and see if any of those fixes apply to you:
