Everything's dissapearing (templates, addons, pictures.....everything)

I'm frickin frustrated. I'm able to upload via my FTP to my web host various templates, addons, and even pictures. My FTP shows they're there. When I go to my web host's page admin page the uploads simply aren't there. For a minute the templates were there but didn't work.....now just gone. None of the addons are there. My pictures go nowhere.

I contacted my web host (eleven2.com....they frickin suck) and they suck. Basically all they said was "if the files are on the server, then the issue is with pixel post not reading them or even looking for them."

How do I know what the problem is?

problems...

Hey Eric.

I run a webhosting company and specialize in pixelpost. Email me through my profile and maybe I can help. I can't promise anything as I don't have anything to do with your current host. But when you host with my company, I do a full install of the platform for you and it prevents a lot of problems down the line. Just something to think about if you get that frustrated.

How is the folder structure in your FTP account and where did you upload the Pixelpost package?
If your folder structure shows something like "htdocs" you must upload all your files there. But the main folder for upload can called different or even cannot be here at all, so it is hard to tell without any further information.
Perhaps you can copy and paste the information provided in your Admin General Info page here (if you have access to your admin panel of course).
Otherwise a listing of the folder structure or a screenshot of your FTP (root directory) would be fine

Hey Eric,

Are you uploading the files to the correct location? Previously I saw that you were putting the files in your home directory so I advised you to upload to the public_html directory for them to be web accessible. I am able to upload and view various files on your account. This is not an issue with the install itself as I was the one who did the installation for you when you were having problems and everything is working correctly. If you want you can contact me on aim at eleven2cory and I'll be happy to review your account again.

www.eric-ward.com

I can send you a screen shot of my FTP but I don't see how at attach files here.

under my public_html folder, I have opened the "templates" folder and pasted the new templates in that file. When I then go back to my admin page I see the the templates, but they don't work.

NEXT question: rather than having only one picture on my front page, how do I make thumbnails to folders congaing more pictures of that same group? For example, when I travel I could make a thumbnail for that trip and you could click on it and open to see the rest of the pictures from the trip? Like this: http://www.earth-photography.com/ or even this: http://www.alexasigno.co.uk/
If I can't do that (for whatever reason) can I at least set up a page like this where I could put a variety of photos with a caption below each? http://www.crestock.com/blog/photogr...graphy-76.aspx

Thanks y'all!

Looking at your site it looks to me as if there is a contradiction between your image path and the folder name?
1) Do you have a folder called "images" in your public_html folder?
2) Is the image folder name set to "../images" in your Admin Options page?
3) Does this folder has the correct rights? (CHMOD 755 or 777)?

Please copy and paste the information provided in your Admin General Info page here which shows your server environment and the Pixelpost path information.

4) you should not use special chars like [ and ] in your image names
5) You don't have to upload your photos with FTP, in contrast they will never show up in Pixelpost if you do so. Only use the upload function in Admin's New Image page.

What you describe are gallery features. Pixelpost is a photoblog, designed for publishing images on a day-by-day base. The pages you are referring to use either gallery software or Wordpress blog.
There were some ideas about having a category thumbnail, you can use the forum search and see if there is already an Addon for that.

Q: 1) Do you have a folder called "images" in your public_html folder?
A: NOPE. I can take a screen shot but I don't see how to paste it here to show y'all. How do I either paste in the image here or attach it as a file and you could see my directory?
I do, however, have a "images" folder under my main directory but the only folder in that file is "thumbnails" and it's empty.

Q: 2) Is the image folder name set to "../images" in your Admin Options page?
A: Yes, in my admin options page, under "images and thumbnails" section, it's set to "../images/" and "../thumbnails/".

Q: 3) Does this folder has the correct rights? (CHMOD 755 or 777)?
A: That's Greek to me. I have no idea. Once again, I could post a screen shot of this admin page as well as my directory in my FTP if I could attach an attachment.

Q: Please copy and paste the information provided in your Admin General Info page here which shows your server environment and the Pixelpost path information.
A: I'd love to. How?

Q: 4) you should not use special chars like [ and ] in your image names
A: I don't. They're usually auto-named

Q: 5) You don't have to upload your photos with FTP, in contrast they will never show up in Pixelpost if you do so. Only use the upload function in Admin's New Image page.
A: So I can't FTP in my images? Crapola! I'd like to upload a lot of pictures and doing it one at a time could suck. Oh well.....I'll do what I need to do as long as I can make this work!

I REALLY APPREICATE ALL Y'ALL'S HELP! I'm frustrated, but I don't know what I'd do without your support! Y'all rock!

Eric, did you see Cory from E2's post above? That would be the best avenue for support, since he has access to your server and none of us do.

RE: Q1. You need to have images and thumbnails in the same folder where your PP files are. Incidentally, if you want to post a screen shot, you'll have to upload it somewhere then link to it from the forums.

RE: Q2. That should be correct assuming you've done everything for Q1 correctly.

RE: Q3. In your FTP program you should have the option to set permissions. If you can't figure this out, talk to Cory at E2, he should be able to help you set permissions.

RE: Q?. Login to your admin panel. Click General Info. Copy and Paste Everything in Host Information and Paths.

RE: Q4. Whether it's auto-named or not, make sure there are no special characters in the file names.

RE: Q5. There is an addon that comes with PP called 'Copy Folder' that will allow you to FTP images to a folder on your server, then import them into PP. You shouldn't FTP these to the PP images folder though.
