Resize picture on the fly

Is there a way to create an addon that will take the actual published picture and resize it on the fly by simply pressing a button in the admin control.

I know that it is not possible to enlarge it but if we want to reduce it, it is something possible? or it is only a dream!

well the auto resize didn't get the actual picture on the server you have to re-upload the picture ever time, what I ask for is taking the actual picture on the server and risize it on the fly without any re upload of that picture. Just like when you regenerate thumbnails.

The next release of my Auto-resize addon will be able to do this as long as there is a full-sized photo associated with it. Unfortunately, I can not predict a release date as of yet.

good this will be fantastic...

And an other idea that I have in mind is to create something that will get the screen resolution of the user and create the appropriate jpg size for the display of that picture in the image_template.

The 2nd part can be done with JS and a full-sized or large image. You're on your own with that one though. I don't have the time nor desire to create such an addon at this point in time. I'm trying to focus on the next release of PP and some other personal maters first.
