Rss Feeds

The RSS Feed links people to

the direct image URL

http://photos.themezz.com/images/200...0_dogsleds.jpg

and not the web page that shows that image

http://photos.themezz.com/index.php?showimage=1321

any way to change that behavior???

Do you have your feeds set to display text only?

I believe what you are seeing is a feed enclosure. You can look it up via your favorite search engine.

Are you using the Safari web-browser to view the feed? Safari likes to make a big deal out of the enclosures and displays them proudly while FF for example makes no visual note of them being there.

The issue I mention occurs when a person gets an email from feedburner using the newsletter feature...

So it does not matter what browser they are using.. they are not seeing the rss feed itself. feedburner see's the rss feed and converts it to a newsletter and emails it out to people.

The older pixelpost does behave this way and the new version does - thus it is not a feedburner issue

It is a Feed Burner issue, since the problem you describe has to do with the way they are choosing to render the enclosures in RSS feeds, when they convert the feed to an HTML email.

This post, http://www.pixelpost.org/forum/showt...2551#post52551, has info on hacking PP to remove the enclosure tag.

I have experimented with a fix for this and determined this is NOT a feedburner issue. It also exists in Google Reader.

I also tried to do the edit you suggested in the link above and I am not able to as the code is not the same as in the suggested mod.

I think I did not post my question correctly.

The problem is that RSS feeds show the text "Original enclosure" which is linked directly to my photo. I do not want that - - I want a link to my pixelpost website to the image that shows the page with the menu, etc... NOT a direct link to the JPG file.

I tried all the RSS options without success.

This behavior is new with 1.7 and doe not happen with 1.6

Suggestion as to remove "Original enclosure" from the RSS feed is appreciated. All I want is a link to the related photo page.

i.e.

The RSS feed should link to THIS

http://photos.themezz.com/index.php?showimage=1204

NOT THIS

I just subscribed to your RSS feed with Google reader. What you are describing is how google reader handles the enclosure tag provided in the RSS feed. The post title still links to the blog page, not the direct image. You can remove the enclosure links from your feeds by commenting out the necessary lines from includes/functions_feeds.php. In the other thread I updated the line numbers for PP 1.71.
