I'll try to look into this over the weekend. I think there's an easy fix but my only problem is that I currently do not have any machine running Windows / IE so I can't make sure the fix is working at this moment.

Hi Marco, everyone,
I have been using the free version of DM for a few months now, but I have only now had a chance to look under the hood and work out why it is performing so poorly. I have over 700 photos on my blog and the javascript "Photo Stream" - which looks really cool - just isn't coping. It will sit there for 5 minutes or more, depending on my connection, grabbing hundreds of image icons, but not displaying them, and crucially, not displaying the main posted photo. I don't think anybody has the patience hang around, as my traffic has totally dropped off since installing it. I need to limit the scope of the images it looks up (I think the last 30 or so would be plenty) or move to another template because, frustratingly, the photo stream is not implemented as a DIV in the normal html template and instead is buried away with all the other page behaviours so I can't just disable it. Any suggestions? |

Now that's what I call impressive support! Unfortunately there may be a bug in this patch as it now doesn't display anything (tested on FF & Google, on both Vista & XP) - but assuming you can solve that you will have 1 very happy new paid up user.
I have restored the previous version for now, but I can put the buggy version live at some pre-arranged time if that helps. Site - http://photos.beilby.com |

I think I'll update Dark Matter Pro soon to make the preloading optional so that those who have trouble with it can disable it. For now just use this file! - Marco

Hello,
I'm pretty new to PixelPost and to Dark Matter Pro, but I'm very much impressed with the software and the template system. I seem to have solved most of my problems, but one has recently cropped up literally over night. This problem ONLY seems to be an issue under Internet Explorer 7.0 (which is the only version of IE that I have access to and can test with). Firefox is not affected by this. I have also noticed that this problem does not seem to be happening with other sites using Dark Matter Pro, so I'm positive that the problem is something on MY site specifically. The problem is that when I load my site under Internet Explorer 7, the Image Info tab is dropped, showing all of the Image Info stuff. If I click the Image Info tab or the little button just above it to close the Image Info screen, the screen will briefly flash closed and then do the smooth open thing that it does when it's normally closed up. When I go to close the Image Info screen, the screen will slide closed, but then flash back to the open state. I've searched through this thread to see if anyone else is having this issue, but I have seen nothing on it. Again, this issue only pops up under Internet Explorer. Firefox is not affected, and it only appears to happen on my site. I have the following: PHP 5.2.8 libCurl 7.10.3 (I'm assuming this means that libCurl is available to me) I'm not sure if this will help, but I should say it anyway. In an effort to help me troubleshoot why my dfGallery slideshow wasn't working, I installed the DOMDocument enabled version of the add-on. I do not know if this would have any affect on the Image Info screen. If anyone can help out, I'd greatly appreciate it. -- Brian Schade brianschade.com Last edited by Schadeboy; 02-19-2009 at 08:42 PM. |
