installing new templates

although i have gone thru the FAQ, i am unable to get a solid answer about installing templates. i can upload the new template to my server, but can't access it. how does pixelpost override the default template (horizon/simple) and use a new template? do i need to remove those, or am i missing something in the installation of the template?

Simply upload the template folder to the templates directory, and it will show up under the options.
