Help with template design

I am currently using the switchy template and really like it. I would like to modify it a little and one thing i would love to do is to add the comments to the bottom of the page instead of opening in a new pop up. It would be best if I could have it slide down and then slide back up, similar to the world in 35mm template. I am not sure how to do this.

Can someone help me with the code, or at least point me in the right direction?
