Email "new post" notification add on?

I did a quick search to see if anyone has already one this, but didn't find it. I'd like to create a feature to allow visitors to subscribe to an email list that will be used to nofity them when I post a new photo (since my posts are not daily anymore).

I'll probably just have to write it myself, but I thought I'd check to see if anyone's already put some work into it.

i think most of us use rss for this, but heck, people like my parents dont even know what rss is...so they would prob love that feature as a user...

it can be done in 1.4.1 as a modification and in the cvs version as an addon. in cvs version (under development) you can fire a function when a new post is published. this function can be defined in an addon. In this case you can fire a function to send email to a list of visitors
