Extra EXIF Addon v1.1 - Adds Nikon ISO Support

I have added two new tags for all of you Nikon D70 owners.

<EXIF_COMPAT_ISO> and <LANG_COMPAT_ISO> work the same as the regular <EXIF_ISO> tags except it also works for the Nikon D70 that stores the ISO in a vendor specific tag.

All of you Nikon D70 owners can get it at;

For the rest of you, don't bother updating since the only change is the fix for Nikon.

Nikon users please note, this has been tested with a shot out of a Nikon D70 and it does work. If you still don't see the ISO, it is because whatever software you are using is erasing it. I loaded the Nikon photo in Photoshop CS and then just saved it out again and the ISO info was gone!

If you want to use Photoshop, don't come here and ask for us to display the ISO info for you because it doesn't exist. If you don't like it, complain to Nikon for storing information in non-standard locations and complain to Photoshop for removing all of the maker tags in the exif.

Using Photoshops "Save For Web" will wipe all EXIF from the file to get the smallest possible file. If you want to keep the EXIF use the normal "Save" or "Save As" they will keep the EXIF. It would be nice to having the option to keep EXIF when using "Save For Web" but the other "Save" works OK.

So no need to scare people away from Photoshop

That is true, but 'Save' and 'Save As' also erases Nikon EXIF vendor specific tags. There are tons of EXIF tags that vendors put in and it would be impossible for all software to recognize all of them, but Photoshop is removing ones it does not understand, in this case the Nikon ISO. Good software should ignore and write back out the EXIF tags that it doesn't understand...

i wanted to also add that if you alter your images in photoshop, as previously stated, the exif information gets wiped out. this program, ISOfix, will help and can be downloaded here:

OK, Here is my fix for the EXIF ISO "bug". Nikon hides the ISO setting in the EXIF "MakerNotes" field. This program pulls it out of there and copies it to the standard EXIF ISO field. This makes the ISO setting viewable in PhotoShop and other programs that can't properly decode the Nikon MakerNote field. Works on images shot in JPG and images shot in NEF and converted with Nikon Capture or Nikon Browser / Nikon View.

To install, unzip all files to a temporary folder and run setup.exe. To use, right-click on a folder name and select "ISO Fix". The application will attempt to correct all JPGs in the folder.

i wouldn't do this repeatedly on many photos, only ones i edit in photoshop, since it gets cumbersome. i figured i'd contribute this as well. i use brad's isofix for those images that i've altered in some way, and rob's fix for everything else (95% of it)

show anymore.

I used ACDSee 6.0 and access to the properties of the photo
I saw many attribute of EXIF likes Images description, Artist, Copyright, Light source, metering mode ...

Can we get it and put into the blog?
