Installation (outdated)
Requirements: Apache, Unix/Linux/FreeBSD/MacOSX, PHP, MySQL
PIXELPOST INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Installation should be a breeze. Follow my lead. 1. You have downloaded pixelpost? Inside it you will find a folder called www. Inside this folder another folder called admin. Open up the document called "pixelpost.php" with your favorite texteditor (BBEdit, Notepad, TextEdit etc) and edit that. You need to edit this in order for pixelpost to be able to connect to your MySQL database, which I must say is a dealbreaker for this one. 2. Now, upload the contents of www to your website. Stuff it in some folder there. 3. Open your browser and point it to your website and the adminspace of pixelpost. If for example you've installed pixelpost under a folder called, ta-daa! "pixelpost". You should go to this place: http://www.yourwebby.com/pixelpost/admin/ (replace yourwebby.com of course). 4. Follow the online instructions, this deals with your user name, password and some other stuff. That's really all there is to it. Download. Edit. Upload. Done. Make sure you set correct permissions on the images and thumbnails folders. It should be chmod 777 (user, group and world all has read, write and execute privileges). Your FTP-application usually can deal with setting permissions. |

Update 1.0 -> 1.1
Update version 1.0 or version 1.1 to 1.1.1
Upload folder "addons" to your install directory. Edit pixelpost.php file (admin/pixelpost.php) Upload ALL .php files. REMOVE pixelpost_cfg from your webserver. This is a mandatory install, very sorry for this. Huge, obvious mistake spotted. This info also availabe in the readme |

Update to 1.1.2
The latest version introduces some small changes. To update you need to upload the new main index.php script, as well as the new templates which are adjusted to reflect the changes. I will from now on go much slower on the updates. Listening to bug reports and fixing those only so the script will "settle" somewhat. |

Upgrading from 1.3 to 1.4.1 or 1.4.2
I've been away from the forum for a couple months...WOW! can't believe it's already version 1.4.2...I want to upgrade. Here are my questions:
1 - How do I upgrade from 1.3 to 1.4.2? Do I need to add 1.4, then 1.4.1, then 1.4.2? 2 - Once I've upgraded, how can I transfer all the images, comments, and text with the images to the new version. It would be a pain to install one by one all the info. Thanks! Ed. |
