to post by email you can use Pixelpost. (moblogging addon in pixelpost.org/v1)
about posting from flicker. I don't think so we go through it at this time. It is a fancy option but if you wanna do that blogger do this and wordpress.

Although, i wouldnt want to post a photo in PP that i have posted in flickr automatically (i do duplicate each photo on both sites though), I do want to say that flickr is pretty cool as a nice partner blog with PP. I use both and love both of them. Flickr has some pretty cool features that we just dont have here in PP. For example, you can add a "tag" (lets say Landscape) and then not only see all your photos that you have tagged as "landscape", but all other photos on flickr that have been tagged with "landscape". You can then add your photos to a Flickr pool. Its a great way to share and communicate about photography. If you dont already have a free flickr account, i definitely would recommend it.
I know PP can be customized to do some of the following, but not all of them. Flickr allows you to see your most commented photo (PP can do it) Flickr allows you to see your most viewed photo (not sure PP can do this) Flickr also alllows people to mark a photo of yours a a "favorite" and then you can view what viewers think as their most "favorite". It really is pretty cool....and i can see how some people would want to link up their flickr photos with PP easily. I love my PP site for its ease of customiztion and the ability to have complete control over it...I wouldnt trade it for the world.....but flickr is a cool "partner" site. |

yeah but PP's mission is different. I have flickr account but I rarely use it. I'm also a member of Photoblink.com which is very extensive site for photographers. I know all these and I don't think that PP dev team can follow this approach. maybe some enthusiastic PP users make an admin addon for it inside 1.5 but sorry me and rest of the team are not on that page right now.

Flickr and PP are two different things IMO... apples and oranges really. Flickr is really a Social networking site with photographs as the theme. And its an online storage app.
Why would you want Flickr and PP?... well becuase they are two different apps. If PP had a RSS type of system built in that would show thumbs from anyone in your feed. And they you could click on that site and see his photos and then go to his RSS feed and see his feed's photos... etc... Then the two platforms would be similar and then you can argue why have one or the other. I post everyday to my PP site... its my "portfolio" to some extent... while I also post to flickr... usually not the same images, so that I can share them with friends, and post them to LJ to share to other friends. I would definately love to see an xmlrpc addon for pixelpost. |

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but I never saw a solution to the question asked: How can we get Flickr to work with PP?
Why? Here's my use for it: I'm now a father. I have no time for extra activities. I barely have time to take photos of my new baby, much less for downloading the photos, editing them, then uploading them to multiple services. I upload all my photos to Flickr, because that's where my friends and family want to go to view photos + print + use anything other service they offer. I also use Flickr because there's 3rd party apps where I can just drag-n-drop my photos into the app and click a button to upload. In short, Flickr saves me time at home. At work is where I have a little breathing room to upload photos to PP. My photos aren't at work and I don't want to port them back-and-forth. I could drang-n-drop from Flickr to my desktop, then upload to PP, but why would I want to do that when Flickr already has a button made for blogging photos? In short, Flickr has met software packages halfway in order for users to save time. Instead of asking why, let's ask how. If there's not a way for PP to work with Flickr, then I might have to consider setting up something like WordPress to handle this process. It's not a threat, I just want to save more time... which is what PP did for me in the first place vs. any other package or manual HTML. I love PP + it's community. I like the fact there's software geared for exactly what I wanted with sharing photos when I starte my photoblog earlier this year. However, at that time, I wasn't using Flickr as much and I didn't see the full potential. Now, I must take a step back and evaluate how I'm working and why I'm doubling work in some areas. So, anybody have any ideas for using Flickr with PixelPost?

Okay, i can make an admin addon in pixelpost v1.5 which uploads your images to flickr after you upload them to pixelpost..
But we can't get flickr to upload them to pixelpost unless we emulating an existing weblog system (don't really want to), or contact Flickr and ask them to add us to the list. The second option means building support into the core of Pixelpost, and working directly with Flickr. I'm going to a conference in February where one of the Flickr guys is talking, i'll chat to him about it. But before then, who knows. Bottom line is.. Pixelpost -> Flickr = no problem. Flickr -> Pixelpost = needs further investigation. |
