Looking further into it would be great. I'm not making demands or threats, just suggestions. I know the PP team works very hard, especially since it's on a volunteer basis. I appreciate everything that's been done, in fact, I think everyone's done a fantastic job.

My habits and lifestyle has changed, though, so I have to look at tools that better fit my needs.

Anyway, thanks for the response and the interest into pursuing this.

I have long wanted a similar thing, not because of new babies but general lack of time. I use ecto a lot to post to my wordPress blog, and it works, also for loading pictures. I don't know enough about the nuts and bolts, but if PixelPost could be adapted -- not in a hurry, but in the next big version -- to use one of the standard blogging APIs then it would enable Flickr users to post to Pixelpost, and ecto users too, and that might (?) be a good thing.

I've been tossing around the idea of Pixelpost2, which will be the BIG release that the dev team will be happy with. A "standard" API is something we'll look into, but i can't make any promises
If nothing else, i'm sure i can accomplish an emulation using Addons.. we'll see.

We were talking about it. It is in oposit to PixelPost idea and that is why we dont want to implement it into our software.
If there is other user (not Dev team member) who can do it - please make it. We see that few PP users demand such addon/opportunity.

I can sympathise with the developers on this one, and even with Blinking8, a bit. But flickr is not the enemy. Flickr is for sharing images. The groups and everything are fun too. But I have absolutely no control over how my picture looks in Flickr. It's like walking into a photo editor with a box of prints and having her stick them on the wall or her desk with a bunch of other stuff to look at them. It isn't great, but you gotta do it. PixelPost is my gallery, where stuff looks the way I want it to look. I'll keep using both, I'm sure, but it would be really nice to be able to post from Flickr to Pxelpost easily, that's all.

I'm all for syndicating data.
As a web developer it's pretty much my job. I believe in standards, i believe in cross platform compatibility, i believe in tags, i believe in API, i believe in open source.
If i can interact with other developers at a code level, i'd love to. As long as it does not change the purpose of my software.

I personally stopped using flickr months ago, for personal reasons, but i will take a look at their API at some point.

The flickr "blog this" function doesn't upload your images to another blog, rather, it creates an entry in the blog linking to the photo so that you can write about it. Flickr is pretty much just an online storage facility, with lots of nice toys to let you share your photos with other people.

If you want an addon for Pixelpost that emails out your image to your Flickr moblogging address after you upload it. No problems, i'll sort one out in Pixelpost v1.5. But it's going to be pretty difficult to do this in the opposite direction.

Understood. And I will continue to use Flickr just as you say, as a big, open drawer full of photos. And PP will continue to be my gallery (which is need of a quick vaccuuming and paint job by now.)

i will have a look when i've had more than three hours sleep.

Looks like some one has hacked something similar http://flickr.com/groups/api/discuss/138092/ so it is possible but then most likely it will have to be built from scratch
