Got myself some new kit (Nikon D50) and I'm just starting to learn about using it. I'm getting hooked on this definately.

Like the site Brian, especially the use of overlib on your thumbnails, looks great. Was it complicated to set up?

i dont like how they break out of the photos frame being centered and all, follow the rule of thirds and position things in the viewfinder so they flow better to a viewers eye.

If "rule of thirds" just throws you off...just check out http://morguefile.com/archive/classroom.php and there is a chapter on it somewhere in there, well, it might not be called the same thing...but its the same idea

massive congrats on the new cam though! i loved the d50 when i played with it in stores, just wish it used CF cards

Thanks for the comments, I know abit about the rule of thirds, and have also just been reading about the Golden Rectangle, very interesting. Being a Graphic Designer at heart I should know about this alot more. Anyway, always more to learn....

And yet there are times when you should know when to break the rules. Sorry but I don't hold much stock in advice like 'remember the rule of thirds'. If you're going to restrict yourself to the rules then you're always going to be limiting yourself.

Personally I think a shot like Dan's doesn't fit the whole 3rds routine so stating the rule just sounds like text book faff.

Also remember....there is no spoon ;-)
