does google really like "clean urls"?

after reviewing my logfiles i actually i find that google seems to ignore even "clean urls" lately, it seems to detect the ".php" inside the url and handles it as just what it in fact is, a dynamicly generated page.
maybe i'm wrong, but i don't think that google indexes these clean url pages.

when i started using the clean url addon, the google crawlers found these "clean url" pages at first, but it didn't come back again to them, now it seems to continue to call just the index page.

what do you think?

Hmmmm, strange.

Ive checked it and what I see is:
http://www.google.pl/search?hs=Kec&h...tnG=Szukaj&lr=

So it will take some time to index all photos with clean URLs but maybe in near future that process will be finished :P

interesting to know GeoS, thank you.
maybe it just takes some time until it takes effect...

as search engine friendly urls are becoming more and more popular with cms's and blogs, i think google will find a way to not indexing dynamic pages if they want to do so...

by the way, is it actually possible to mask an url of a dynamicly generated page in that way that it looks like a html page?

(maybe a silly question...)

in apache your can process HTML page as PHP
or

you can Rewrite rule
imageid.htm to index.php?showimage=imageid

google will see <domain>/imageid.htm, but server will process index.php?showimage=imageid

Not so silly - there is such possibility. You must add on the end of each URL i.e. /index.html (one example variable at bottom of this post).

Google is indexing all types of URLs - static and dynamic. Other search engines have problem with it.

PHP Code:
    $image_current_cl "<a href='$showprefix" $current['id'] . "/" clean_txt(pullout($current['headline'])) . '/' clean_txt($current['datetime']) . "/index.html' title=''>"

thank you, GeoS! does that mean, that the clean url addon isn't needed for google's indexing, but only for the other search engines?

There are other benefits for having clean urls. and search engine indexing is only one of many.

also if you have a clean URL with keywrods in your URL, your site will rank higher than other URLs wihtout keywords.

Yeap, premii is good saying. More details in URL, meta, ... = higher rank in search engines.

having a keyword or category in the url will help, but how much? I don’t think anyone can give you a straight forward answer...this science is still more of a guessing game for many

but the obsession with clean urls is a bit, eh, exaggerated per say

there are many links out there on better SEO (Search Engine Optimization), I'll try to gather up a hunk of resources for you all in the next week or so.
