Does Photoshop kill the ISO info?

Noticed this: any photo that I've tweaked in photoshop looses the ISO data.

Is that obvious and a dumb statement or is it something that needs to be attended to?

Thanks,

Brian

That is weird. ISO is not even listed there at all.
I've never had any problems like that. If EXIF was going to be discarded it would do everything not just ISO.
Have you tried other software? Perhaps Nikon that came with your camera.

I figure it was photoshop tampering. Maybe it's the camera. BUT, when I've uploaded the file I see the metadata and it's there.

weird...i dont think PS would touch just the iso, as long as you used "save as" the data should be preserved.

okay... here's the deal:

Again, using a Nikon D50...

1. <EXIF_ISO> doesn't pick up the data period.

2. <EXIF_COMPAT_ISO> (from the extra_exif addon) will pick up the data if the photo has not been maipulated.

3. If the photo has been manipulated in Photoshop, the ISO data disappears.

4. If the photo is manipulated in Nikon View, <EXIF_COMPAT_ISO> will report the ISO but whacked out, i.e. ISO 200 will be reported as ISO 13107200.

?

Is this maybe something to do with the fact that Photoshop moves the data to its XMP format? I believe that if you enter the data in Photoshop, then it gets written to this additional dataspace, in XMP. If you enter it from some other program, then it stays where it is as well. But I am not sure. Google it.

You need to go through ImageReady and choose to export EXIF info when "Saving optimized as..."

Ummmm. What ver. of photoshop are you using?

I am using photoshop 7.01 and imageready 7.0.

In Imageready, there is no option for export exif infor when "saving optimized as". Actually, in file info, it shows no exif data period.

In Photoshop, file info does have an EXIF option but it does not show ISO.

This is my life. Seriously. With pretty much everything. Arghhhhh.

I'll call Adobe. Standby.

Well, according to Adobe... Photoshop and ImageReady are not necessarily compatible with all things Nikon. Apparently, Nikon is quite secretive about their technology... and not necessarily in sync with industry standard.

Bottom line: for those using Nikon DSLRs, use Nikon Project, Capture, etc.

Bottom line: for those using Nikon DSLRs with Pixelpost, pray.
