Some of the hardest concert lighting I have ever shot in. 1/60 at f/2.8 was the fastest shutter speed I could get and that was underexposing the shots by 1 full stop, it makes it pretty difficult to shoot a band that is moving around

guess some real wide aperture lens is useful for that kinda thing. like a f1.4 50mm

you did well despite the lighting.

i take my 85 1.8 to concerts, it helps a lot

what white balance are you using? tungsten works great for concerts normally

I shot these in AWB, tungsten made things way to blueish/purpleish. I wish I had something other than my 50mm in the 1.8 range, I shot most of these using my 70-200mm 2.8 because I had to stand away from the stage and up on a bench to get level with the band, the 50mm just wouldn't give me the focal length that I needed and I don't like cropping in for the zoom afterwards in photoshop unless I have no other choice Maybe an 85mm 1.8 will be added to my small lens arsenal in the near future.

if tungsten doesnt work i custom white balance, the colors fromt he lights seem too saturated or something, just a tad off, you can get really cool shots weith those colored stage lights, but you have to nail it right, can be kinda hard to do.

yeah, the 85 is a rockin lens. Best canon lens under $600

i dig them, though they were hard for you to shoot. seeing the guitarist makes me wish i could look cool with a hat like that and makes me wish i could grow a beard instead of just this goatee thing.

Thumbs up i can relate!

I recently went to this show that had really bad lighting as well. I had to shoot at 1600 1.8 and 1/15s. It was a harrowing experience and I'm glad that a few came out okay and that noise filters exist =P.

Concert photography causes too much stress.
