Question Finished custom template - reactions?

I am new to PixelPost.org. I just came across the site earlier this week. I have been trying to get back into photography for the last year after completely dropping it in exchange for directing films.

Please take a look at my first build -- http://photos.joshuagarity.com

Let me know what you think of the design and photos. Second build will come in a few weeks when I get some more time.

The arrows are over the images? Can you let me know what browser you are using?

They should be lined up with the border on either side.

Thank you for your response

I don't like the arrow always on the images either. Get rid of that and you have a nice template.

And I really like your photography. Keep it up. I bookmarked you.

moved to design and code section

i cant stand the arrows in the image

i dont dislike the concept, but i think it could use some cleaning...ie color scheme could be a little better, the comment box under the image doesnt align well, the arrows are funky

i see what you're going for in IE, but you need to make the site functional in firefox and safari.

I must say, it is not good at all

the space where you place the photo has no top

css validating is not possible because too many HTML errors...
14 errors in HTML...
no doctype found...

why you guys start everything from scratch and forget the whole structure??

why not take a working template as a template, take out the content from the body and enter there your code?

Sergio de la Torre -- You have been very helpful. Thank you very much!

Like I said, I just put this together. I only spent a day on it. I haven't error corrected yet. I came here asking for your thoughts on the design as a photoblog.

Next week I will be error correcting so it is 100% valid XHTML.

Connie -- mainly because I run a successful international film production and media design company and I don't use premade templates. I threw this together one evening to get it live. I haven't advertised or sent this out yet so its still in pre-release mode.

The colors will not change. The design will not change. I will be working on validating and cross-browser support next week. This is the photo section of a larger website so it must match the same color scheme.

All in all, thank you for your time. Sergio was extremely helpful. The rest of your comments were mainly personal taste dislikes on the design or colors.

No worries. I appreciate everyone's help.
