thumbnails for rss feeds?

I'm using the light white template, and it does not generate thumbnails for the rss fee (or rather the rss feeds don't ask for a thumbnail image) - can someone help me with the xml code that must be put in to do this? thanks!

noblevia,

sorry, the template is not responsible for the thumbnails in the feeds
the feeds are formatted by the script itself

it depends how you look at the feed, which feedreader you use
when I open the link to RSS feed for example in Opera Browser, I do not see thumbnails
when I open the link to RSS feed in FireFox, I see the thumbnails
when I use a feedreader-programm (f.e. feedreader), I see the thumbnails
have a look here:

ok? please tell us which feedreader or browser you used
but I can tell you that our feeds validate absolutely correct and you can test that with http://www.feedvalidator.org

there is for sure no mistake in PP, but there are many different ways to present Feeds ;=)

Thumbs down

sorry, but if you add Javascript to your template outside of the Body Element, and more of these mistakes, not only the feed is broken!

the complete structure of your template is wrong, you have at least 30 HMTL errors, so please repair the HTML and maybe the CSS as well before you check the feed

it is no wonder that feed will not work, it is a wonder that the page does work in a browser at all ;=(

please don't blame us that one part is not working when many parts are faulty, and not because of PP ;=(

you can check your page, here comes my mantra again, with the webdeveloper extension of Firefox, there in the menu-point "tools" all necessary validators are at hand

mate, did you add some javascript stuff into index.php cause that's what http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?u....php%3Fx%3Drss is telling me. be sure you remove all that stuff and stick it in your template files - playing with index.php will only bring problems

if you do this then all should be fine

Angry at least it wasn't all-caps

Joe[y] - thanks, I did put some counter code stuff in there - I'll be sure to move it off the index.php page.

Connie - I don't know who you are - but I didn't say that pixelpost was faulty, only that when I subscribe to it via bloglines that it did not show thumbnails. Turns out it was MY fault, but lay off on the idiotic bold-red-rant-type for those of us who make a living doing things other than writing code or validating xml or css or whatever. I'm a musician and a photographer, not a computer technician, and I'm doing the freaking best I can, and your attitude did not encourage me one bit - in fact, if you have anything to do with pixelpost (which I otherwise have enjoyed using very much in my limited time with it) I'd be ready to go back to using another photoblog application instead.

Tinyblob - thanks for the support! It's good to know that there are still some civil people out there.

Charles

Joe[y] - I've cleared up the xml validation errors except for two that appear to be caused by one line in the lightwhite image_template.html. Rather than cut and paste that to this post - here's the link to the report:

http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...e&ss=1&No200=1

If you can shed any light on this I'd be most grateful.

Charles

I wanted to point out the important things which were wrong and I took time to find out the reasons why it did not work. I used the red color for visualizing the problematic parts

It is always problematic to find the "right tone" because written communications lacks a lot of "non verbal communication"

I tried to show the points where repair had to start
but I did not try to offend you in the way like you took it
for that I am sorry

and I am known here that I am a person with temperament and engagement and so this might be the wrong tone for somebody as well

so you see temperaments are different
but this must not be taken as offense

I still think that the problems which I pointed out were not wrong, and I showed you the way where to start to get the problems solved
for this I will not excuse
I just am sorry that you took it in a way like it was not intended

so I will not bother you anymore with answers, promised

ah mate that must have been my bad! i wrote the tempalte a looong time ago. if you're interested i have an updated version of that template coming out soon so you could always switch to that which is 110% valid xhtml - or otherwise change:

HTML Code:
<font class="date">
to

HTML Code:
<font style="font-size:10px;font-weight:normal;letter-spacing:1px;">
and hopefully that will fix the problem for now!
