Was just browsing http://akismet.com/ and thought that it would be a great idea if PP could also have an addon which filtered SPAM using akismet

Should not be too difficult to write - will there be takers?

yes. yes i think that would be great. i have no experience with wordpress plugins however - i know ramin had - maybe he'll be more able

I've contacted akismet to see if they would be willing to work with pixelpost as they do with wordpress. I'm still waiting for a reply - I'll post anything I get back from them here.

Akismet is developed by Matt *the* Wordpress guy

If you read the FAQ you will see that they encourage developement of Plugins for applications other than Wordpress....

In short I am sure you will get a positive response

Many many users dont get spam at all or just get one or two a month/week ect, so I personally dont see it as a built in feature. But I would love to see a very powerful addon in the future with such capabilities.

this would be a great addon and i'm going to put it on my todo list. Matt from wordpress has offered me help with it but i might see if i can find somebody to pass the torch onto after 1.5 is out there. i have other responsiblities that are more urgent surrounding pixelpost right now.

I have a proof of concept addon ready.... just a matter of polishing it. Have you written any code?

id say coordinate with tinyblob for the addon, his work with pixeloost to date is pretty much solely with addons

not yet. but as blinking8s said. would be a good idea to talk with tinyblob about this if he's willing.

I'm using it on my WP blog that is hit daily with heavy spam attacks. It works great!
btw, my PP photoblog, on the same domain, does not have any of any of those anoying comments. but it's great to have such a powerfull tool available for PP as well.
