Publicitiy Photos?

Anyone got experience with "publicity photos" of politicians?

How do you do publicity photos? What are publicity photos? Suggestions? resources (Web sites?)? examples?

I took some photos for a friend's brochure project and they turned out pretty well. One of his board members saw them and has asked for my contact info to take some publicity photos for his local election campaign. I'd like to be more prepared for when I hear from him.

Kinds of photos? Things I should consider?

Any advice would be great! thanks in advance.

you've just gotta make the guy look good + professional :-)

ask him how he seems himself and try and translate this into a photo set.

Kissing babies, planting trees, looking seriously as a person of a different gender and skin colour talks to them, talking at a lunch (very difficult), family person ... no end of things like that. You're trying to show that, despite being a politician, this person is also a normal human being. But trustworty, upright, sober and moral.

HAH!

Thanks everyone. That was helpful. I'm sure I'll post some of 'em if I get the gig.

I have not taken this kind of photo but was asked to be in a few. I have some friends who are local politicians. They needed a few of us to pose in a park like we were intently listening to the politician. There were a few of us standing near a statue and some of us sitting on a park bench seemingly in deep discussion.

excellent! Unfortunately, I have yet to make contact with the client. He called once, but I haven't been able to reach him, yet. I've tried email and left a few voicemails... oh well. Not a big deal, since I'm not focusing a photographic career (sorry about the pun), but it would have been fun!
