yes, it also can catch fish, but mainly shrimp. the shrimps can go in but cannot go out. maybe I need to change the name to "shrimp-pot"

In German it would be "Reuse", used to trap fish or whatever to be cought in the water. So for Shrimp it would be "Garnelenreuse" or "Krabbenreuse".
In english it could be "crab trap" or "crab creel" or "prawn trap" or "prawn creel" LG KArin |

I don't think that style of catcher is used in Australia (not that I'm into fishing of any kind). Something for similar use would be a clay-pot, used to catch crabs and whatever else. They're actually made of clay though, or used to be.

In Denmark it would be called 'ruse' - Close to the German version.

now I named it "shrimp pots", a trap indeed. it's made of rattan.

In Dutch is it :"Fuiken".....or bow nets.
