Addon Req: Modification to Browse

I wanted to know if there was any way to make browse only show the newest image from each day.... so if for instance i had this.

id1=jan 01 at 12:14
id2=jan 02 at 12:00
id3=jan 01 at 12:16
id4=jan 01 at 12:15
id5=jan 02 at 11:59

then on the browse section of the web site only image id4 and id2

can this be done?
