need help with uploading first image
hi everyone,
i installed pixelpost and keep trying to upload my first image with no success - i click on "upload" and the admin screen refreshes with none of the info that i input, and when i go to check the home page it still says "coming soon!" i have double and triple checked my image path and can't find fault with it - i am using unix and the path is exactly the same as if i were to ftp to it - /home/domainname/www/pixelpost/images the permissions are all set correctly and i am using the minimal requirements for pixelpost: Host information PHP-version 4.3.2 MySQL version 4.0.21-standard GD-lib 2.0 or higher Server software Apache/1.3.19 (Unix) FrontPage/5.0.2.2510 EXIF Your php was compiled with exif-enabled. This means you can add additional exif-information to your images such as camera model, aperture, exposure time and more. There are certain tags to add to your templates for this. Check pixelpost homepage to learn more. Permissions Images folder Images folder is writable, which is a good thing. Thumbnails folder Thumbnails folder is writable. ---- i read through the other support forums and it seems like everyone else's quick fixes to this problem didn't apply to me. i even tried it in ie (i use firefox normally) to make sure it wasn't a browser compatibility issue with the upload button, but no such luck. any ideas? thanks! |

for what it's worth...
if i upload everything in a directory to the pixelpost db and then re-generate thumbnails then it works. i am just not able to upload one image at a time from my hard drive.
still would love to hear if anyone knows why. thanks! |

ellea,
I remember that we had a similar situation once. The reason was not that the script was faulty, the reason was that the script copies the file when uploading to a temporary place and then moved it into the images-directory the limitation came because the hoster did not allow scripts to move files from one directory to another... maybe that is the same reason? You should ask the support of your hoster for information about the limitation for scripts .... |

bumping this up...
hi there,
i have since contacted my host who say that they do allow scripts to move files from directory to directory. i still am unable to have images post through the regular upload page on the web interface, and i am now unable to get the thumbnails to be generated - i have to make my own and upload them via ftp using the naming convention. any idea now what could be causing this? thanks! |

do you miss the tailing slash? change Code:
/home/domainname/www/pixelpost/images Code:
/home/domainname/www/pixelpost/images/
