i uploaded pixelpost following the instructions
connected to my site via the browser but i dont get any further then step 1

What do the script tell you?
Any errors?

Edit: To explain a bit further.
There are no other steps than step 1.
When you first load it up it should present you with some text and a form to fill in (for your admin section).
You click the button after having filled out the info requested. If something don't work you should get an error message, sometimes it's useful and sometimes it's not.
If everything worked out alright it should print out what it has done and that it is installed, and the next thing would be to login to your admin panel and get posting.
