IE Windows messes up my gallery

One picture is worth a 1000 words.
What is the problem? The whole design is corrupted.
It never happens on my Mac, just on several Windows machines with Internet Exploder.
If I choose style Site style Dark or Light it displays correctly (for a while).
Template used: Simple.

I've just checked your site (had to use Google to find it since you didn't supply a link), and I've checked the site using both the light and dark styles in Windows XP/IE6 and did not have a problem - the site displays fine for me.

What version of Windows and what version of IE are on the machines that are having this display issue?

Thanks for trying!
Sorry about not providing the link.

The problem is intermittent, sometimes it works fine sometimes it goes wrong.

Tested with:
Windows XP and IE 7.0
another computer with Windows XP and IE 7.0
Vista and IE 7.0
All 3 worked for a while, then at random moments they go wrong.

I have discovered that the way the styleswitcher script works could cause some problems, mostly because of the cookie handling. The script sets a cookie for your website and the selected style. If you are testing other templates which also use the script but set the cookies name to a different value ("dark" instead of "Dark" f.ex.), the matching css won't load. Though this is a local problem with your browser. Other users won't have these problems watching your blog.

@Crossie:
I'm afraid that the problem actually did occur with other users who were visiting my gallery. They did not use the style switcher but just clicked on the main photograph (to advance to the next photo) after a random number of clicks the css data is lost or corrupted.

This has never happened on my Mac with Firefox and Safari.

That's strange and I don't have a solution, sorry. I did some tests on your blog with Safari and Firefox 3.0beta on Mac Leo and IE 6.0 and 7.0 on Windows XP and I never got a loss of the css styles, no matter how often I have clicked thru the photos.

Maybe theres a chance to further investigate this if the affected users can take a look at the sourcecode of the site once the problem appears. It would be interesting if the css-file could be loaded directly by pasting the path in the adressbar, just to eliminate possible accessibility problems with the file.

Regards
Uwe

Problem found! (at least the culprit...)

Thanks Uwe, I really appreciate your support!

But I believe I have found the cause of the problem!

Tonight babysitting in someone else's home I'm bored out of my mind so I decided to test the website again: another Windows XP laptop, IE7.

I clicked through the images again and again and suddenly I noticed that the Light style would break at the same photo each time. 28th picture. (did you get that far )
I decided the image itself could not be the problem as it is displayed properly so it had to be something else: the title!

The title contained two double quotes: Nature Park "de Regulieren"
I removed them in admin mode and it worked. Three pictures further along was another photo with "de Regulieren" in the title and sure enough: it broke the style.
After removing these double quotes all problems are gone.
The weird thing is: de Dark style did not break with these photo's.

To sum it up:
  • Light breaks when the title contains double quotes.
  • Dark has no problems at all.
  • It only happens on IE7 so far. (It happens on XP and Vista.)
  • Is has happened on four different PCs
  • and logging in from 3 different locations/IP numbers.

Hope these facts can help to fix the code (I'm no good at HTML)
