Talking Is this shot any good?

candy.

camera: d50
flash: no flash
aperature: f/3.5
focal length: 18mm
exposure time: 1/100sec
iso: 800

i think it might be a little too noisy, and that the girl could be in focus just a bit more and it'd be better.

anyway, what do you guys think? i'm contemplating posting this one on my blog, but just not sure. =]

Well, I agree with you. I think the candy doesn't look very tempting (and I think it should be?), and that the girl could be in focus just a bit more just as you say. But I like the colors and the light...

Thanks for the reply. I'm not good enough at postprocessing to make the candy stick out so maybe I just needed more light on it or something. The shot was taken in a gym too.

Hi,

For me personally, it's not that the candy is not 'sticking out', it's just that this particular candy is not very beautiful to look at. Or at least not beautiful enough to be the main subject of the picture.

I agree that having the girl in focus more would improve this one. Alternatively, you could have taken a different angle on the candy, or mixed it up so that one of the pieces of candy stood out would make the image more interesting.

Really good idea for the shot with the candy in focus with the little girl coming from behind towards the candy. I agree with the others about this particular candy not being very "photogenic" . Also the gym as a background kind of takes away from the f.p.i a little. Not much you could have done about that though :-) Good creative idea.

thanks. i was just sitting there (thats my leg on the left) and saw the pile of candy she just laid down from the pinata and then figured it might make for a decent shot and set the camera down behind it and snapped..

thanks for the crit's!
