May be it is just me - but I don't like chopping off heads in anything except head shots

well, that doesnt bother me really, it just depends on the framing you are going for...

i've already mentioned this with mr olsen, but i once had a lecture covering a lot of portrait work, commercial of the sorts, and there was a theory about hands mentioned, we loooked at near 200 examples in magazines and adverts and the hands were used as a fairly dominant factor of the portrait in almost every single case...the reasoning i never truely figured out...but i do notice it when i look at portraits now.

2 is my favourite - good use of flash - love the saturated colours and the medium you've reached perfectly with that burning sun.

It's not flash it's a reflector. I cant stand using flash really. Reflector used in 2 & 4 while the rest is all natural available light.

As for chopping of heads, I do it all the time. Like blink said, depends on the framing you want to go for, how close etc.

Thanks for the comments

well that would explain why i thought it was such damn good flash! didn't even occur to me it would be a reflector - i should use them more often than flash i suppose.
