How to announce a new addon

Dear contributors,

This will give you instructions for how to annouce new addons in the forum. By following these simple guidelines, we can improve the usability of the addon forum.

What to do
  • Upload the new addon into developers section of Pixelpost.org
  • Introduce each new addon in a seperated thread.
  • Put the name of the addon in title started by the phrase Addon:
for instance, Addon: Favorate photos by category is the title of a thread that introduces a new addon named favorate photos by category
  • Specify the version of the addon clearly
  • Write a description for the new addon. Right to the point.
  • A small installation guide is always helpful. Be aware that your installation guide should be clear for everyone.
  • Put a link to your addon in the thread. It's recommened that you put the URL under the title of Download.
  • You may add a screen shot of the new addon to the thread. It helps alot.
  • Update the version, edit the description, and upgrade the texts as new version comes.
  • If available, introduce the new tags.

What to avoid
  • Do not put words like new in the title of the thread. For instance, the comment protection addon should be announced as
    addon: Comment protection
    and not as
    new addon: Comment protection
  • Do not change the addon script without changing the version or description.
  • Don't confuse forum users with long descriptions. Don't forget to be concise.

What if someone prefers the addon download to be hosted on his own site?

I presume that these are guidelines rather than rules
