Browse by Category revisited!

Hello all,

First of all...I love Pixelpost...it is beautiful and elegant...and I greatly appreciate all of the interest and help to be found here:

However...

What I really would like has been requested many times, but has either been misunderstood or cannot be accomplished (unless I am missing something).

Browsing within a category. Not changing what is initially displayed on the main page, but if someone chooses a category via the dropdown menu, I think it is logical that they expect that they will now be able to browse (the larger images) within the category they selected. Some argue that this makes the blog a gallery, which I don't even know how to respond to, except to say that it does not diminish the nature of the blog, but enhances it. I love the blog concept, but think that it is reasonable to browse within a category if it is selected. In fact, I hardly see the reason for categories at all if you can't browse within them (not that people don't have their uses for this).

I think it is confusing, in fact, that someone should choose a section and then find that they are not "in" that section.

Is this possible...if it has been accomplished I would certainly like some advice about where to find it (i don't think that it is the cat mod or the new tags for page by page archive, but if it is, please correct me.)

I know how to add source tags...no problem

but how do I

"add extra variable to standard URL - category=CAT_ID." as instructed?

where would this be "added"?
