sorry i must have read dreamweaver as dreamhost - was rushing through posts this morning.
anyhow- it's almost certain that what you've filled in in pixelpost.php isn't correct... MySQL Server Host 'mydatabasename' - for host make sure it says localhost... i think that's right for godaddy. even if you're still receiving errors if you receive a different error show it to us here - we should be able to tell what it means.

Hey, no problem. Here's the new error:
Connect DB Error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) Cause #2 and then if I go to install.php, then I get the error: Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/content/j/k/e/jkennedy99/html/photoblog/admin/install.php on line 75 Error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) |

So you're saying my best solution to use PixelPost is to switch hosts? I appreciate your help. I guess I'll keep using WordPress. Thanks for your help up to this point.

I think you must not switch to another host
but you must find a way to connect to your database in a way that ensures mysql statements from the public html area.. "socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)" <= this seems to be the problem, this configuration is not ok so either the host support can help you or the difficulties will not be solved |

Connie and Joe[y], thanks. I'll call GoDaddy again and see what the deal is. They said before that they didn't really do support on databases, other than just ensure that they were working properly, which I was told this one was doing. I appreciate the help, and if I have any more issues, I'll bring them back to this post. Thanks again.

yeah, don't leave PP because of initial configuration problems! It's worth to stay with it!
And search the forum here, you will find other clients of Dreamhost and you can contact them how they did it.. |

Connie, I'm using GoDaddy. I've got a friend who is using PP and GoDaddy, so I'll call him when I get a chance. He's told me it's worth it as well, so when I get a chance we'll work through it.

the good news is that GoDaddy once again let me know I was typing in all the right stuff into pixelpost.php, and that my hosting plan meets all the requirements for pixelpost. so it's not an issue of what i'm typing in or who is hosting it. the bad news is that it's still not working. got one more person to call and then i'll either have to settle for it not working and stick with WP or find something else.
