Upload Addon for user interaction.
Hi,
Has anyone come across an addon that allows an user, other than the administrator to upload an image/photograph to a holding area? Obviously there would have to be some sort of security on the folder preventing people from accessing any other folders. I was thinking of a web form with a browse to the local computer field, users email address, users name or nickname etc. I am running a web site where by it would be very useful for me if the user could have the opportunity to upload their own photographs, perhaps into a holding area to be moderated at a later date/time. Any comments would be welcome. I've only recently moved over to Pixelpost from Wordpress, only because I've discovered PP to be a lot more user friendly in the photograph viewing department. I've spent quite a few hours working on my Stuffonmydesk site. Having the upload feature would be wonderful. Cheers, Mike |

Mike,
PP is a one-user system, it is intended as that. You are looking for a community tool which PP definitely is not maybe someone could do this as an addon, but it is not our intention there are other gallerie systems which concentrate on communities, PP is intended as a one-user-photoblog |

there is an addon which allows people to post via email - BUT, as far as i'm aware there is no way for it to be moderated yet.. i'm sure this could be organised quite easily with some php skills by editing the post by email addon... even if it's as simple as posts automatically being set to the future so that they don't show up right away giving the admin the chance to delete any entries he/she wants to delete.

Yes, I agree it's a one user system, in that I would never let someone else dictate how the site will look. But I don't see the difference between the Pixelpost Copy Folder (built in addon) and an upload Image/Folder form for Joe Public to upload too. It could be linked to an FTP folder etc. Depends how you decide to use your photoblog. I think PP does the job of community blog fantastically, focusing on individuals as a whole. I understand until now, it's been used by photographers alike, but that's not to say that it can't be used by the community for the community. PixelPost is also one of the best, if not the best photoblog software I have seen so far, and I have installed many and none of them offered what I was looking for. Even gallery2 from menalto could do the job, but it was very square. Mike |

Well I currently receive dozens of emails from people sending in photos of their desks, and it is tedious task I am trying to avoid. I am going to look into an upload to temporary folder Addon. I think it will be a good project to get into. Cheers, Mike |

i wasn't suggesting they email you.. but rather they email an address which is read automatically by pixelpost and then turned into a post - saving you the time.
