Problem with new Templates/Addons

Ok i just got PP up and running and downloaded some templates to try out (dolichocephle, pixelgrain, salted...) and I've followed the directions and put them in the /templates folder but when i go into the PP admin and try to select them in the template drop-down bar they are not there. I am also having the same problem with addons that I've downloaded/installed, They do not appear in under the addon section in admin. I've looked through the forums for this and didn't notice anything that gave me a clear answer. Thanks in advance for any help.

1)
Are you really sure you uploaded the files in the correct format? ASCII? Check your FTP

2)
Are you sure the directories have the correct permissions?
check that!

3)
did you check the information which is generated in the admin panel?
are there any remarks?

good luck!

1) Yeah i double checked and they are uploaded in ASCII.

2) What should the permissions be? Does that apply to the template folder? I know that the images/thumbnails need to be 777, is there something else that needs to have the permissions changed?

3) I didnt notice any remarks/errors. The templates dont even show up in the admin panel for me to access. So it doesn't produce any errors at the bottom of the page.

Thanks again.
