Potential user -- will Pixelpost let me do this?

Hi everyone,

I am thinking of switching to Pixelpost and am looking for advice.

I currently have a photoblog running on Folderblog and a parallel "words" blog about photography, including articles I've written, using PMWiki as a blogging tool. They can both be found at http://www.photosensitive.ca. Right now, my site is a real "dog's breakfast" -- it looks very rough -- and it's hard both to find information and to maintain the blog. Folderblog in particular hasn't been updated in well over a year, despite promises to the contrary.

What I would love to do is re-construct www.photosensitive.ca so that I can integrate the "photoblog" and "blog" functions. The site would then consist mostly of a photoblog, along with occasional text-only posts. I'd love to be able to keep the plain white look-and-feel I have going on now, and I'd also appreciate a way to include the articles I've written into the site, somehow. I don't mind hosting the photos on Flickr, if necessary (I have a pro account there).

I should also mention that I'm not a programmer. Basic HTML and CSS are about all I can handle, and I'd rather not spend too much time setting up the site. If I could automatically import my old photos into the new blog (Folderblog keeps captions and comments as separate text files), that'd be even better.

Do you all think Pixelpost could handle this kind of job? If so, where do I start? And if not, what else should I go with?

can't you go other way round: use a blog, for example Nucleus or WordPress, and integrate Pixelpost into that?

In my opinion that could be easier because the blogs are far more modular..

in Nucleus you can design the interface in the skin file and integrate there the index.php of PP, with WP I never experimented...

There is a quite old hack called "add_text" written for Pixelpost v1.43.
I rewrote this thing for my own purpose to make it suitable for PP v1.5 (the last release), but didn't make it a "complete" addon what means there are still a few hacks to do.
If you are interested in, I could have a look at it and try to put it into a "real" addon with no need for hacking. Or perhaps it is enough for you if I try to describe what I did to make it run.

Have a look at it here:

It is not my addon, it was originally written by eon.
Right now I am fighting with the release version of image stats addon. But after that, maybe...

austriaka, that's kind of what I had in mind, but reading what others have written, I might go to Wordpress instead.
