If you aren't having any problems, I don't see any reason to upgrade.

But if you find that spam is becoming an issue, I'd recommend you upgrade.

i mean, it's got some cool features, but as the old saying goes "if it aint broke, dont try to fix it" i believe...

so if you have no quarrels with what you have going on, then don't sweat it. But do make regular backups just for the day comes along it may be so outdated it gets hacked or something horrible we hope that never happens.

basically we can't offer support for any versions prior to the latest release - so if you run into any sort of problems then you'll need to upgrade before asking for help - it just makes life easier for everybody :-)

thanks for all replies. yeh i understand what you're saying joey.

let me ask another question:
if i was to install 1.6 on a different server, different domain... then modify the pixelpost.php database information to reflect the same information that i have 1.4 running on... will that work?

no, because it is a different server it cannot connect to the database.

yes, if it's on the same server, you should be able to connect to the same database.

You will need to set a different prefix in the pixelpost.php file though, so they don't override each other. v1.6 uses the database differently than v1.4.

thanks jay.

would i need to set a different prefix if i basically want to mirror my current install (1.4) with this new 1.6 installation? i want the new domain to be a mirror of what i currently have running.. same pics, comments etc so that i can continue to post to this new installation/domain as per normal moving fwd.
