How can I get links from Comments to open in main window

How can I get the links from the comment popup window to open in the main window, in a new tab.

For example, I have Image1 posted, and in the Comments (Details & Comments in my case) popup window I enter details about the image, and I also post a link to the original photo. How can I get that link to open in the same window as the original Image1, but in a new tab?

Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

There is no way that I know of to open a new window in a tab. It all depends on the users browser settings / capabilities.

I am pretty sure there is a way, but I don't know what it is. I researched it a little on Google yesterday, but I don't know enough php or javascript to customize what I found for pixelpost. Perhaps one of our guru friends from the forum will enlighten us.

I'm telling you, you can NOT force a new window to open in a tab.

First of all, not all browsers support tabs.

Secondly, browsers that support tabs may have them disabled.

The only way a link is going to open up in a tab rather than a new window is if the user has specified their browser to do so or they use a shortcut key while clicking your link.

I am talking about the parent window, not a new one. I've seen it done, I know it's possible. There is a javascript that you have to write the has to do with onclick= something about the parent window. Look it up on Google, I'm not the first to ask this question.
You see, my comment window doesn't have a navbar and the size is about 500px wide, so I want the links to open in the parent window which is usually maximized.

That is much different. I thought you meant browser tabs. That's my misunderstanding.
