I tweaked "Copy folder" to create a daily photo

Hi all,

I tweaked the "Copy Folder" addon to import a bunch of images (1,344 to be exact) so that only one image would be released per day. If anyone is interested in this capability, let me know and I'll clean up my edits for that plugin and make it available. Right now it is definitely a hack.

I don't have to worry about adding new images to the site until May 8, 2011. The site is http://www.fractaloftheday.com. There are only two fractals published so far. 1,342 to go! Mike

Sounds like a good idea...

I know when I moved over to pixelpost I had 500+ photos added at once. But perhaps you could modify it to go backwards from today's date instead of forward? That would be neat.

Going backwards in time is a great idea. It would be simple to change the + to a -.

I'd love a crack at this plug-in, too. Especially with the backwards-compatibility. A beautiful PP tweak!

Is this something you're cool sending out? If so, I'll PM my email ASAP!

I wouldn't hold your breath...this guy seems to have checked out after the two posts in this thread.

Lightbulb I might have a Solution...

When I moved my site to pixelpost, I had over 500 photos I imported with the copyfolder addon. I ended up with all those photos on a single day in the database, which meant I never really liked using the calendar addon or anything like that. This past weekend I made a script that took those 500+ photos and remapped the days in reverse order, going backwards from the time of my install and import. I can see if I can make it into an addon that you could give it a picture id and it would run from there.

If you look at http://blog.kevincrafts.com/index.php?x=list (in the right column) you can see that all the photos up to December 28, 2006 are on seperate days.

Let me know if you would like me to develop this a little further.
