Put Pixelpost and webserver onto CD (for Windows and Mac!)?

Hello,
I'm asked to prepare a "snapshot" of one client's existing site that is based on Pixelpost. Those snapshots have to be put onto CDROMs (or DVDs or usb keys, it's to be decided) so that web server and Pixelpost start directly off that cheap media. Webserver with Pixelpost and DB server have to start off CD(DVD) automatically once CDROM is inserted into computer on Windows and MacOS X.
It seems that this special web server can be used for such task:
webserver for cd
Have anybody done something like that with Pixelpost and CDROMs?

You would be MUCH better off trying to use a free program such as HTTrack (http://www.httrack.com/) to download the entire Pixelpost site and save it as HTML files.

That way you could simply burn the HTML files onto a disc and browse it with any web browser. That way no web server is necessary.

Alternatively, you could use XAMPP Lite (http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html#646) on a removable flash drive, that should work as well.

I need to add some static pages with JavaScript to the site. Saving everything as html is not an option - MSIE since 2 years ago refuses to run JavaScript from files accessed using file:// protocol.

XAMPP seems to be an approach to consider, but it seems it does not support Macs (either completely, or properly).

I've tried a trial of web server for cd I've talked about, it seems to work rather good on Windows and Macs.

You might want to look into some of these small linux distro's like damn small linux that can be run off of a USB key. Most of the time these are run as a bootable USB key or CD but you can set it up with something like QEMU that will emulate and allow you to run the linux distro right in windows. They have embedded version that will run on windows that uses the QEMU as the emulator. Now I am not sure what the support is for Mac but there is a branch off of QEMU called Q.

Now this requires a bit on knowledge of linux and setting a web server to tun on localhost but then you will be able to have the site run just like it would on the internet.
