I can fully recommend the "Web Standards Solutions: The Markup and Style Handbook" book.
The best book I've read for XHTML and CSS. Fantastic. |

added http://bitesizestandards.com/ bite size snippets to improve your standards
its new, so the coolness list is short, but some of the items include proper xhtml markup with php and utf 8, automatic colored rows, proper form code, etc...

Sometimes it's nice to curl up with a good book. A couple I like are DOM Scripting by Jeremy Keith, and CSS Mastery by Andy Budd et al. The latter is a nice followup to the aforementioned Web Standards Solution .
