How do I upload templetes?

I'm new to this, so go easy on me.

Can anyone tell me how to upload a template I got from http://www.pixelpost.org/extend/templates/ to use as my page layout? If you could please tell me how to use this template or any other template I might design in the future to actually be on my page.....in plain, non-uber-technical English.....I'd REALLY appreciate it!

Upload the whole template folder with all its content into the templates folder of your pixelpost installation. Then go to your Admin panel to the Option tab and select the newly uploaded template there (name is the name of the folder)

I did that (before posting this topic)

The only options there are the stock options: "horizon" and "simple"

How does the page know to pull the template from my computer's file? One of the pixlepost guys set this up for me because I couldn't get it to properly install on my end.

I have now downloaded a template and a couple of addons but I don't know where to upload those folders to make them do anything. Why don't they just ad an option from your admin menu to "add template" or "add addon"?

did you upload only the content of the template folder or the template folder too? (Second ist correct)
Please refresh your addon options page, all folders within the template folder should be shown as template to select then.

Addons work similar, just upload the addon file into the addon folder (or the whole addon's folder into the addons folder of pixelpost) and make sure that any other file of the addon is in the right place. This is usually explained in the readme text of the addon or you can see the folder paths when unzipping it.

The directory structure of your uploaded template would be your_pixelpost_folder/templates/name_of_the_template/
By default pixelpost includes the simple and horizon templates. These appear as your_pixelpost_folder/templates/simple/ and your_pixelpost_folder/templates/horizon/ respectively. Once you have uploaded the folder, check to make sure there is at least an image_template.html file in your new template folder.

I think I might just be retarded. Like I said, I'm new to this so bear with me.

I have downloaded a template and some addons. They are saved to my PC. I have figured out that I now need upload them to my pixlepost to make them active? Can someone please tell me how to upload them? Talk to me like I'm 5 years old. Please tell me:
1- click on "options" from the administration page
2- go to (wherever the heck I'm supposed to go to upload these frickin files)
ect

In my admin menu, I just have the option to turn on and off all of these things (most of which I have no idea what they do.) The only ones I understand (written in plain english rather than some uber-technical lingo that was obvisouly not designed for the new-to-photoblogging guys. I have all of these options turned off, but I have looked through them and I don't see where I can upload a file for a template or addon. Please help me.

To start with you'll need an FTP program such as FileZilla, WS_FTP, or the like. Supporting these programs is really outside the scope of support of PixelPost. Contact your webhost or do a google search for "how to FTP". There are hundreds, if not thousands of tutorials that go over the basics on transferring files via FTP.

Once you've got that down, it really just a matter of dragging and dropping the files from your computer to the correct folder on the server. I'll be glad to help once you get to the point where you're connected to the server and can move files.

I don't have a FTP. I downloaded one but when I didn't know how to configure it, one of the guys from eleven2 (my web host) just "set it up for me". I downloaded "SmartFTP" and when I try to connect to a remote browser, it asks me for these things and I don't know what any of them mean:

Protocol: (normal FTP), (FTP over SSL Explicit), or (FTP over SSL Implicit). Normal is default so I assume this is correct

Host:

Host port: (21 is default)

Path:

login type: (user name & password selected)

login: (I know this)

password: (I know this too)

I have my page hosted at eleven2, and they "set up" pixel post" for me.

host is usually your domain (www.yourdomain.com) or the guys at eleven2 should have told you
just fill in your login and password and click on "connect" or whatever it is called in SmartFTP.
You'll get a window separated in 2 halfs: left side is your local PC, right side is the server. Now find you Pixelpost installation, open the templates folder at the right side and the one at the left side, and drag the desired template folder to the server window.
Now you should find it in the Options panel
