explorer

ok, i'm sure this has been touched on here... i searched for a while, but...

anyway, i have Explorer 5.2 (i'm assuming that's outdated - obviously, i don't use it) and my Delicious-based site: www.ctfoto.com/ ...isn't working so well on it.

it's great on Safari and FF, but i think i recall reading that maybe IE has problems with transparencies... is that right? my logos are all very small .pngs. thought they'd be cool...

You may use http://browsershots.org/ for compatibility test with different browsers, afaik IE 5.x doesn't support png transparency out of the box.

Btw. IE 5.x is way outdated and should not be used anymore cause of security reasons and other compatibility problems. I wouldn't waste any energy in working out code for transparency with such a seldom used, old browser.

i'll try your compatibility link... thanks.

meantime, do newer versions of IE support transparencies? (the transparent sliding 'about' overlay won't work at all on mine)

IE 6 (7?) has issues with 24bit PNG images. Transparent 8bit PNG's and GIF's are no problem though. Search google and you will come up with more information than you'll know what to do with

ok, most browsers look good from the POV of http://browsershots.org/

...but it doesn't show functionability.

anyway, i'll just assume it's fine... except for IE. the screenshot looks ok for IE 7.0, except for the minor esthetic quirk that the top right links appear to be layered beneath the image (just the bottom edge is covered, so i suppose i can live with that).

but, are the transparent slide-down pages working? (the 'about' link, and the other not-yet-finished-page links)

anyone?

maybe i should try the 'Templates' forum? (i'm using the beautiful Delicious template)
thanks for any help!
