The great Add-on Challange: the 'zoom' effect

think this would be really cool effect to have on a pixelpost blog

basicially what it does it zoom into an image, not "enlarge", not loupe, not magnify, but zoom, keeping the detail. i believe this is called image swatching, when the image is "zoomed" it swtiches to a new image according to where your mouse is.

The best example i have seen is gucci...

im not a developer, so i dont know how hard/easy or time consuming this would be, or if it would even be possible to incorporate into pixelpost as an addon. So i'll just throw it out there.....

cheers

Photo zooming options

The Gucci one is a nice effect but it's very slow for me because the images take a long time to load. I'm on a shared internet connection in Starbucks and there isn't much bandwidth!

You can get a zoom effect without losing quality with Magic Zoom here:

I wonder how much work it would be to create a module for PixelPost?

unfortunately MagicZoom is not free, so it is not possible to build up a free Addon with that.
Have a look at this one, FancyZoom:

Magic Zoom is free for non-commercial use - same as Fancy Zoom.

I understand it in a way that it should not be used in an Addon... But of course one could ask the guys there

Zoomify is a feature of Photoshop where it cuts up your large images and outputs all appropriate files including a .html and .swf for controlling your zoom. I have used this method in another application that has its own controls built and primarily relies on the outputted (cut up) images from photoshop... may be an option to look in to?
