Spam Problem

hi

since a few days my blog gets spamed with what seem to be automatic generated messages, they all come form a different IP address. Now i want to try and see if the "token" function under the spam control settings can help.
however, i cant figure out in which comments template file i have to add the token tag. im using the template "suffocate" and in the template folder is no comment file.
can anyone help ?

thank you.

Token

The <Token> feature works very very well. You simply add it between the <forms> on whatever page you have the comments on. I have mine on the image_template.html file

Basically just look thru the couple of files and find the code that looks something like this.

Quote:
<form method='post' action='index.php?x=save_comment' name='commentform' accept-charset='UTF-8'>
Its probably the only form you have... And add the <TOKEN> on the next line. That should do it.

Put the token tag within the form tags where the comment input fields are located.

1. Are you using Akismet to filter your comments for spam comments?

2. Did you enable the use of the token in the comment form?

3. Try setting the number of URLs allowed in a comment to 1 to stop spam comments that have multiple URLs in them.

4. Use either Defensio or Akismet.

5. Close the comments for that particular picture (choose edit and look for the picture)

yes i activated the token. both akismet and defensio are implemented in pixelpost already right ? i just checked and they were both switched of, i just set akismet to "on", i believe its not possible to run both at the same time ?
do i have to configure anything else ?

in my humble opinion

C~

Personally, I like Defensio better. I use it with <TOKEN> and i don't get any spam. You have to activate the <TOKEN> first from the admin panel. Do this from the menu tab [OPTION] submenu [SPAM CONTROL] Then follow the instructions of Defensio by going to their site and getting an API code from them. Enter that code in your admin panel, and the spam should stop.

I've put "url=" in "Referrer Banned List" and it seems that it works. No spam until now, even if the last month I had 500+. No token and, temporarily, no defensio/akismet. I just want to know how long will it do the job.
