hosting

I just wanted to highly recommend http://www.eleven2.com, especially for digital photography. I’ve been through my share of hosting the last few years. The package specs are great and I've yet to see a better price with a quality company that offers solid uptime and good support.

Hosting option

I highly recommend Dreamhost.com Customer support is great, their plans are cheap, etc.

there's been a bit of controversy on these forums before about dreamhost. Customer support actually hasn't been all that great in some people's cases and as a result they've had a very hard time running PP.

I respectfully disagree with you. I and 4 of my associates have used Dreamhost for over a year now and had nothing but great experiences with a ton of bandwith, a ton of storage, and great customer support. With some of their plans they will call you back within 6-8 hours for up to 2 hours per month of live customer support.

Just our opinions though...

the main problem PP users have been having with dreamhost is that dreamhost is very cautious about it's security (obviously this can be argued as a good thing! :P) - this affects posting of images etc..

anyway, as you said. just opinions.

worst host i have ever used in my life...

I had downtime all the time, and support never got a response back to me within 10 hours in my time there. Phone support took 2 days to return my call once...said they were busy, I had a very very large account with them and I expected my time to be worth moving to the front of the busy line. I once thought they were good, till I got a taste of what hosting SHOULD be like.

I cant even count the number of people I know that have left dreamhost in the last year, the 6-8 hour waits on support requests...the stats on accounts arnt that impressive, the price is solid, the admin panel isnt all that great...do they still take like 2 hours to get a db setup after you enter it? that really annoyed me...

now I know people that have had great uptime with dreamhost, they were on different servers, in different datacenters or whatever...good for them, but its inconsistant from what I have seen, I wouldnt ever send my business there again.

if you need a hoster who will answer or fix your questions / problems in less than one hour, mostly in 15 to 20 minutes, who offers a lot of space and a lot of traffic, who has cpanel and fantastico self-installer.. go to

http://www.siteground.com/

by the way, we could suggest to include PixelPost in Fantastico...

hehe. so does eleven2 stick to it's "downtime, what's that?" slogan then?

i have never tried dreamhost... from the amount of bad reviews of it I saw I steered VERY clear :P
