New Template: Dark Matter

This is a response to the review DerPatrick posted:

Nice template, but I can't say that it is professional. It is horrible to change the language of the template and it seems impossible to change to words "IMAGE INFO", "PHOTO STREAM" and "COMMENT FORM" - don't know where the author has hiding them. Seems the author of the tmeplate never heard about language support of pixelpost and that not the whole world speaks english. Sorry, but i'am very angry after a lot of time I spent of try changing the template but it wont work.

Whats about the YAHOO-Stuff? There are several scripts that would loaded from YAHOO - but why? There is nothing about in the doc!

Patrick, this is the first time I've ever used Pixelpost so you're right, I don't know much about the language support. I can however fix the template to support this. Instead of trying to change the template and getting very angry in the process, you could have asked about it because as with every beta thing I was hoping to get feedback in order to improve.

The 'YAHOO-stuff' is YUI, which is a Javascript framework. There's nothing in the docs about it because there doesn't need to be. YUI is an open source framework just like JQuery or Prototype. It loads from Yahoo servers because they have the files on a CDN (content delivery network) which is way faster than serving them from your own host.

it is entirely possible to adapt it in another language, demo Dark matter in french.
Certainly this is not top but it works.
To do this, I had to put their hands in the code, if it concerns certain I can identify files and line numbers to find such information.

I repeat, I love this template!

Some terms are in dynamically generated markup by Javascript and may therefore be a bit hard to find.

I will make translation of the template easier in a future release. The suggestion to do so is great. The bitching wasn't. That was kind of my point

Ok, so I got annoyed enough with DerPatrick's flattery that I created a new version which is probably easier to translate than any other theme. Instead of having to edit templates or javascript, there are now two files:

• l18n.php in the dark matter directory
• l18n.js in darkmatter/js

These files contain all strings used in the entire template. Edit these and the whole thing is translated. In the future, if you make a backup of these files this will prevent you from having to translate again after an upgrade.

Let me know if I missed anything.

If any of you create versions of these two files in other languages please email them to me at marco@i-marco.nl. I'll gladly include them in future releases so other people can benefit from your work.

Please post in this thread if you've sent me a file and mention which language you translated in order to prevent people from doing the same job twice.

Pulled version b7 and replaced with b8 after finding out the add-on breaks the add-ons admin screen.

Im sorry about what I have posted in my review, I was just angry about searching in several places of the theme and still dont able to get all I want to translate.

The new Version is much better and now I found everything I want to translate, but what I want say, please have only one look to the existing language file, and you can half the work of translating, because most words are already translated, there is a translation with automatic for comment/comments - please use the existing translation tags instead of making own for the same words.
