I downloaded the image and took a look at it. I can't do a lot with the web resolution, but you might be able to help it a bit with a curves layer, upping the lights, then adding a feathered layer mask over the sun. Looking at the histogram, you have lost most of the detail in the palm trees as they are all clipped to black, so you will have to be satisfied with them in silouhette.

Next time, when shooting sunsets, take your exposure on the sky without the sun in the frame, then recompose your shot with the sun in the frame. Most cameras allow you to do this with some sort of Auto Exposure Lock button.

If you email me the high-res version, I will take a pass at it with photoshop and pull what detail I can out of it. I will then send you the photoshop file with the layers so that you can see what I did. My email address is rob at prouse.org, but you should have it from the comments I left on your site yesterday.
