A slight resemblance?

I was randomly browsing my latest referers, when I stumbled upon this site.

http://www.bendenoord.com/pblog/index.php

Now perhaps I'm just being over-sensitive, but somehow I doubt it. Am I the only one who finds that site somewhat close to what one would call a "rip-off" of my current layout:

http://www.ubbedall.dk/blog/index.php

Now I'm sure there are several people that will point out the fact that I should be grateful that some people find my design worth copying, however, strangely enough the feeling of gratefulness, is somewhat replaced by a feeling of resent.

I put a great deal of work into keeping my website unique, and as a gesture I release my old layouts as free templates, when I then see people who have largely copied my current layouts, I get slightly pissed off.

It doesn't look that close side by side in my opinion, as there are many sites that have a top nav, and the photo description on the bottom.

But after looking at the source code, it does look like that site was heavily "based" off of your template.

I do agree they are similar, I would have no problem if he had created it himself, simply basing it on yours - but if he has copied source code then I would be more annoyed.

And I found another one.. God damnit people! this is seriously pissing me off, as these are actual rips of my site, it WILL have consequences!

With the current pace of things I think I will have to hide my html code, which is sad for people who try to learn it, but it seems that's the only way I can avoid this.

Maybe you should should create a "Rip Off" page like Panic did... http://www.panic.com/extras/ripoff/

Also, I don't know if this will help, but you might want to put some HTML comment text at the top of the code, to let people know, that they are free to "lean" from the code, but they do not have the right to rip any code from your site and reuse it without permission.

I put a little html comment blurb in the code of my photoblog.
